Who can practice hot yoga?

Hot yoga at Kom is for everyone. Our state of the art studio provides for a comfortable and therapeutic experience. Instructors offer modifications for beginner and advanced students allowing students to move at his/her own pace.

What class(es) is best for me?

They each offer unique benefits. If you are interested in all of them we suggest trying them all and balancing your yoga practice with a variety of styles. If you prefer a slower pace and a deep stretch Yin will probably treat your body good. If you want more of a cardio workout and challenge our Flow or Barre is for you. Yin and Yang is a perfect balance of both energizing and restoring.

How often can I come to class?

Everyday, and you can come to multiple classes per day. Back-to-back classes are popular and will leave you feeling blissful. It is recommended for practicing yogis to practice at least 3 times a week to receive maximum benefits. If you can't make it to class 3 or more times a week it's ok! Any amount of time you take for yourself to renew is beneficial!!

How do I prepare for a hot yoga class?

It is recommended to eat your last snack or meal 2 hours or more before class. Drink lots of water so you stay hydrated!

What should I wear?

Clothes you would be comfortable moving and sweating in. Water resistant, lightweight, and more form fitting clothes work best and allow for a comfortable experience. Running and biking clothes usually work well. Men can go shirtless and wear swim trunks if they choose.

What do I need to bring to class?

You will need a yoga mat, water, optional bath or beach towel for your mat or hand towel for sweat. Kom sells and rents mats $2 and mat towels $3, and we sell water bottles in case you forget to bring one.

For convenience, we offer Mat and Towel Service to our Autopay Members. With this membership you will receive a yoga mat and towel at every visit or if you forget yours at home as a convenience.

Check in on Facebook and receive a free bottle of water!

ETIQUETTE - SHOWING RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND YOURSELF

BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENERGY YOU BRING INTO A ROOM

Be Punctual to Class

We respect your time therefore we start and end class on time. We also lock the front door to keep the studio safe during class. You are expected to be in the yoga/barre room and ready for class to start on time. Entering the room after class starts is disruptive. Plan accordingly so you arrive early enough to be in the room when class starts.

 No Electronics/Phones/Watches

Turn off or mute your electronics before you place them in a cubby or locker so they don't distract the class. Electronics are not allowed in the yoga room.

Take Your Shoes Off

Leave your shoes outside the yoga room.

Minimize Conversation

As you arrive and set-up in the yoga room it is good practice to be quiet and focus inward. The few minutes before class are ideal for a short meditation and setting an intention for what you want to get out of class that day. Being quiet is not just good etiquette but also beneficial for your state of mind. If you need to say something simply be mindful of others by whispering. The lobby is the space for socializing not the yoga room.

Respect Your Teacher

When taking a group class do the class that your teacher is guiding. Do not come to class and disrespect your teacher and the other students attending by doing your own thing. Modifications are encouraged when needed, so that is not what this is referring to. Yoga is meditation for a lot of people so be mindful and responsible with your presence.

Try Not To Leave Class Early

Arriving late and leaving early disrupts the class and should only be done when absolutely necessary. Use the restroom before class starts and bring plenty of water into the room with you. If you need to take a break take child's pose and rest until you feel you can start back with the class.

Clean Up After Yourself

Before you leave clean up your space, any props you might of used, and mat if you rented one. There is cleaner and cloths on the shelf in the yoga room.
